Dreams – A Virtual Reality

Have you ever seen a dream with open eyes? Yes, of course, we all have landed in the same situation of chasing our dream. But the path of success isn’t too easy. That’s what Aryan’s struggle is all about. We all want to live up to our dreams and what could be the worst scenario than getting your dream shattered in front of you. Many of us have been dragged into this horrendous situation. The same happened with Aryan, one of my closest friends and a great artist whose painting skills were charismatic.

Aryans' struggle has its roots when he was in his higher education. Having a great interest in art & craft and paintings, he used to draw cartoons, creatures and throw colours on canvas to portray his skills. But this talent was concealed from his dad. Being a middle class, his father’s ambition was to make his child an engineer. Like his grandfather did to his dad. Aryan’s father was an engineer and his dad wanted him to opt for the science. Without gathering enough guts to deny his father words he opted to take science.

His non-medical science and passion towards paintings were running simultaneously as if Aryan was living in the parallel world. His father wanted him to follow the current trend of education at that point in time, “Engineering” and wanted his child to opt for Bachelor in Engineering Technology (B.tech). Again he didn’t deny his dad words. Somehow, he secured a good rank in his senior secondary education and amused his dad. His father was very happy for him. As Aryan had added a feather in the cap of his dad. But at the same time, he was well aware of his dream of becoming an artist was getting far away from him.

A much-awaited time has arrived for his father when he thought his son will excel in the West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam. He suggested his son to start preparing for it as he won’t get a better option than WBJEE. His words made him furious about his dreams which he has left behind with the passing days. He decided to state out that he is no more interested to go for engineering and want to be an artist.
Aryan was frightened as he never refused his dad's words. He was getting ready to face his father's reaction and gathering enough courage to handle his emotions. He was planning throughout the day that what he would be going to say when his father will arrive back from the work. But he was not aware of the bad time that was waiting for him.
An anonymous call shocked Aryan!

“Your father had an accident while crossing the road and I’m sorry to inform you that he’s critical and admitted in the Fortis hospital”- the words from the random call made him clueless. Without wasting much time he ran to visit his father in the hospital.

“I have seen the calibre in you my son. You will have a brighter future and chase your goal of becoming an engineer.”

These words changed the whole perception of Aryan towards engineering and he pondered over them again and again. Lastly, my friend agreed to pursue his graduation in Engineering to be an engineer like his dad and filled the WBJEE Application Form 2020. Apart from the studies he also continues to paint in free time. No matter what the circumstance is but one should not leave his or her dreams behind and this what Aryan did. I am proud of my dearest friend.
